Bottled Cocktails

There’s an art to mixing up an icy cocktail on demand, but when you’ve had a really rough day, nothing beats the luxury or opening your freezer, pulling out a bottle of your favorite premixed beverage, and pouring yourself a stiff drink. Even better, should an old friend stop by unexpectedly, you can fill their glass immediately with a perfectly mixed and chilled classic, and get down to the business of catching up.

It no secret that we love our premixed drinks. Once you have this process down, you can make just about any drink of your choice (our favorites are Manhattans and gin martinis), and keep them in the freezer without any sort of expiration date to worry about (they probably won’t last long enough to lose their kick anyway). Just be sure to add a a touch of water to make up for the lack of melted ice from using a shaker (one of the bartender’s secrets to diluting your drinks just enough to bring out the subtleties of the liquor).

Mix these up in flip-top bottles, (we like a combination of square and round bottles) slip them in the freezer, and enjoy! Just one word of word of advice, if your freezer is set too low, your bottles may need some time to thaw out, so you may want to fine tune that setting. Either way, they’ll still come out perfect!

Here are two of our favorite recipes:

Gin Martini
15 ounces gin
5 ounces dry vermouth
5 ounces water

Manhattan
12 ounces rye whiskey
6 ounces sweet vermouth
6 ounces water
12 ounces Angostura bitters
