Leo’s Den: February 21st

Leo is our resident film buff, audiophile, and home theater guru. Every Tuesday, he takes a peek at the latest movies and gear hitting store shelves, and tells us what he’s excited to bring back to his den.

This week’s theme is: Testosterone + Emotional Overload

Hacksaw Ridge
I admit it, I’m a Mel Gibson fan. The guy has been embroiled in a decade’s worth of often self-inflicted controversy, but as an actor and filmmaker I have always found him fascinating. After last year’s excellent ‘Blood Father,’ Mel goes back behind the camera for this very well-received film which has now been nominated for Best Picture. Order the Ultra HD Blu-ray

Manchester by the Sea
Phew…I’m still recovering from seeing this at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. It’s emotionally brutal, but I think I’m ready to see it again. I promise you, there are scenes in this film that you will never forget. If you’re a fan of Kenneth Lonergan’s ‘You Can Count on Me,’ you need to see his latest. Order the Blu-ray

Nocturnal Animals
I have some reservation about this one. While ‘A Single Man’ is a fascinating film, Tom Ford’s latest sounds a bit too contrived for my taste. Still… I’m undeniably curious about it. I guess there’s only one way to find out how it stacks up… Order the Blu-ray
