We love a good cocktail as much as the next guy, but there are occasions when a pint of beer is the only way to go. In the Summer we enjoy a crisp pilsner. In the Winter we prefer things a little darker. But there’s one beer we like year round, a variety with a deep, rich complexity that tickles our taste buds in a way no other beverage can.
We’re talking of course about oatmeal stouts. And there is one stout from a brewery in Eugene, Oregon, that for our money cannot be beat. Ninkasi Brewing Company’s Vanilla Oatis.
This beer is a twist on the company’s flagship Oatis, which is a dynamite stout in its own right, but with that little twist of vanilla… well, here’s how they describe it:
“A divine blend of vanilla, coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt notes swirl together to create a smooth Oatmeal Stout with a crisp finish. The true signature of this beer comes from the addition of whole vanilla beans to the final stage of conditioning—the same process we use to dry hop a beer. Slightly sweet with a rich complexity, Vanilla Oatis is decadent and delicious.”
We agree! We would also add “perfect” and “sent from heaven.” Apparently heaven is in Eugene, Oregon, and you can order it by the glass.
Pick up a bottle and see for yourself.
